Artist Bio

Iván Madrigal

(Mexican, 1983.) Iván Madrigal began to explore art from a curious and irreverent perspective in order to criticize the ego that separates us from the truth of life: love. A key element within the construction of the pieces is the Playmobil toy, which serves as a vehicle that becomes doubly relevant, since it was not only his favorite toy during childhood, but it has also transcended until his adulthood as an object of great significance in his memory and that represents the concept of substituting the ego for the being in a daring and fun way. Iván Madrigal plays with classical art in the same way he played with his Playmobils. It invites us to lose our fear of “the greats” and makes them accessible to all. His technique is so refined that we often wonder if what is painted is a print.
