Music and visual art have a long standing relationship. They are intertwined and inspire each other, which is why Lyle Owerko’s Boombox series has resonated with so many in the artworld. They immortalize this music player that went on to become a symbol of urban society, as well as the rise of hip hop and graffiti. Now imagine taking that already powerful image and deconstructing it, and reimagining it through the mind of a visual street artist who’s biggest inspiration comes from that generation of Music. This collaboration between Lyle Owerko and Stikki Peaches represents a merging of two artists work that improve upon each artists practice beyond anything we’ve seen before.
