The Current Things references the social trends of the moment as well as the past. Through an innovative reinterpretation of classic paintings, artist Roxy Peroxyde reminds us that while we may fixate on whatever is tending, history repeats itself time and time again. The work also addresses the desire for external validation and the inherent tension between our authentic selves and our public persona – what is real and what is opportunistic.

Roxy Peroxyde is a self taught oil painter, located in Montreal. Her practice is one of self discovery that confronts her fears of exposing her true self, in hopes that it gives the viewer the courage to do the same. This will be Roxy's first solo show with S16 Gallery.
